Brisbane born, NIDA graduate, Josh Lawson’s credits catalogue his versatility as an internationally acclaimed actor, writer and director.
Josh stars as Kano in the recently released film Mortal Kombat for New Line Cinema/ Warner Bros. Prior to which Josh worked with Jay Roach on his critically acclaimed film; Bombshell co-starring Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie. Josh also worked with Jay Roach on the Warner Bros. comedy The Campaign, opposite Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis. He can be seen in the title role of Hulu’s Becoming Bond, directed by Josh Greenbaum, which won the 2017 Audience Award at SXSW Film Festival. Lawson previously starred in Darron Grodsky and Danny Jacob’s Growing Up and Other Lies, opposite Adam Brody, and Paramount’s Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, opposite Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd and Steve Carell. Further, his dark indie Crave worked its way through the festival circuit, snagging award after award.
Josh received an Academy Award nomination and won an AACTA Award for his short film The Eleven O’Clock, which he wrote and starred in. Josh also wrote and directed The Little Death which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, where it won the audience award, and the recently released; Long Story Short starring Rafe Spall.
For television, Josh starred opposite Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell in Showcase’s House of Lies, Superstore (NBC), and Romantically Challenged (Warner Bros).
