In February 2021, The Bureau of Magical Things season one was ranked in the Global Top 10 TV Series on Netflix across all children’s and adult’s genres. It was also the winner of the 2019 Kidscreen Award Best New Series Tweens/Teens and the 2018 AACTA Award for Best Children’s Program. Season two was released in June 2021 and Nickelodeon acquired The Bureau of Magical Things to air to its global audience in 170+ countries and territories. The series was pre-sold to Network TEN Australia and ZDF Germany, and is distributed worldwide by ZDF Enterprises.
When Kyra, a teenage girl, is accidentally transformed, she discovers a secret world of magic all around her and comes into possession of powerful Orb Magic. Invited into Professor Maxwell’s School, Kyra has to lead a double life as she keeps her magic secret from family and friends while she learns how to keep the world safe from magical outbreaks. After defeating the power-hungry elf, Orla, the Bureau of Magical Things is born and Kyra finds a place in the magical world. But when Kyra and Darra embark on a quest to find the legendary lost Temple of the Purple Lotus, Kyra’s Orb Magic awakens an ancient artefact which threatens the existence of elves and fairies, and leads Kyra to discover her true identity.
