Claire is a 2017 Banksia Project Recipient and looks forward to meeting all her fans in Melbourne in April 2017, and will participate in signing sessions throughout Saturday (10.30am to 5.30pm) and Sunday (11am to 5pm).
Claire Murray is a comic artist, and enthusiast, from Bendigo. In 2015 she was one of the recipients of Squishface Studio’s Microgrant, with which she printed her first short comic Ripple.
Having had a love of art and its various mediums since early childhood Claire went to study at RMIT, and gained a Bachelor of Arts: Animation and Interactive Media. She focused on 2D animation, and while she learnt a great deal, she came to realise her true artistic passion was for comics, and now attempts to make as many comics as humanly possible, in as little time as possible.
Claire to date has mainly created short comics, one of which is her newest series entitled Living With It that follows the daily life of a superhero with Type 1 Diabetes, and her efforts to manage her super strength, villains, and the constant management of her medical condition. Though not a superhero herself Claire does share the joys of having Type 1 Diabetes with her character, and hopes through her short comics to give the uninitiated a better understanding of the realities and struggles of those living with the condition, and to give those with Diabetes something to laugh at.
Later this year Claire hopes to launch a webcomic, and spends most of her spare time working towards this goal..
