UPDATE: We held out as long as we could, but for the first time in our 18 years of operation, it’s with a heavy heart that we must announce the cancellation of this year’s Supanova in Sydney.
To say that we are disappointed would be an understatement. There was nothing we wanted more than to close out the year celebrating our love of all things fandom with you, our Supa-Fans. Unfortunately, despite the extra few weeks our December dates allowed us, restrictions in New South Wales are not projected to lift in a time frame that would enable us to effectively plan and deliver the calibre of show our community deserves.
While this closes the book on our in-person events for the year, this gives us all the more time to work on making our 2021 return something truly spectacular! Mark your calendars and join us next year on the dates below. Our dedicated team will also be working on some fun surprises to keep you entertained in the countdown to April, so, as always, keep an eye on our social media channels for all the latest news.
This has been an extremely challenging year for all of us, to say the least. The unpredictability of this pandemic has made it almost impossible to plan events with any degree of certainty, which has resulted in Supanova 2020 events being postponed and re-scheduled more than once.
We have worked tirelessly to create an opportunity for Supa-Fans to gather together and celebrate their fandoms as a community. Unfortunately, COVID-19 restrictions across the country have not eased to the point where we can guarantee November as a viable option, therefore we have made the difficult decision to cancel all of our events scheduled for November 2020, that being Supanova in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
This year has been a hard blow to the events industry, and there’s nothing we’d like more than to be celebrating all the fun, festivities and fandom that Supanova has to offer, so we thank you all for your continued patience and understanding. We hope that the next time we make a post like this, it will be to detail all the awesome things to expect from our return next year, with our 2021 calendar resuming Supanova’s usual schedule of April (Melbourne and Gold Coast), June (Sydney and Perth) and November (Brisbane and Adelaide).
